All four requested windows retainedFour windows.
Different costs, markets and recovery time.
All four requested windows are retained: Dec 17 → Jan 1, Dec 18 → Jan 2, Dec 17 → Jan 2, and Dec 18 → Jan 3. The requested return dates are targets for reaching the house. Verified flight times below are US-airport arrivals; the drive, rest stops or an airport hotel can push house arrival into the next date, including Jan 2/3 or Jan 4 after a late Sunday landing. House arrival on the target date is not guaranteed; Sunday returns particularly need that plan. The former fourteen-day cap no longer applies.
Thu Dec 17 → Fri Jan 1
Refreshed actual Air Canada Basic cart, Nashville–Frankfurt. The paired-source price remains $2,724. Its Google first-bag scenario is $3,084; that is an estimate, not a bag-selected checkout.
16 inclusive airport days · 14 European nights. Outbound 08:00 → Friday Dec 18 06:40; return Frankfurt Jan 1 10:05 → Nashville 19:38. Both directions have long Toronto waits. This buys an earlier home weekend but normally means moving toward Frankfurt on New Year’s Eve.
Exact January 1 return pair ↗Thu Dec 17 → Sat Jan 2
Current actual United Basic Economy cart for two. The dated bag calculator lists $90 per person each direction for a first 23 kg bag: $3,866.38 with four such fees, an unselected estimate.
17 inclusive airport days · 15 European nights. Outbound 08:00 → Friday Dec 18 06:40. Jan 2 return LH470/AC1231 leaves Frankfurt 13:20, connects in Toronto for 2h05 and reaches Nashville 19:38.
It keeps the earlier Friday market arrival and can retain New Year’s Eve in Zurich, with Jan 1 for positioning. The airfare is $340 below the refreshed Friday carrier cart, but it adds one European room night and a longer rental.
Exact new third-window flights ↗Fri Dec 18 → Sat Jan 2
Current actual United Basic Economy cart, replacing the older $3,633 Google offer. First-bag calculator: $4,206.38 for two using four $90 fees, not a selected bag checkout.
16 inclusive airport days · 14 European nights. Leave Nashville 08:00; arrive Frankfurt Saturday Dec 19 06:40. The same practical Jan 2 return reaches Nashville 19:38, with 13h18 total travel.
Friday removes one potential work date, but an airport hotel Thursday night or pre-dawn drive can reduce that advantage. It keeps Zurich New Year’s Eve and the same Sunday recovery opportunity as the new Thursday–Saturday window.
Exact refreshed Friday flights ↗Fri Dec 18 → Sun Jan 3 · Atlanta–Frankfurt
Current actual United Basic Economy cart. 17 inclusive airport days · 15 European nights. Leave Atlanta Friday 12:55; Frankfurt Saturday 07:25 via Montreal. Jan 3 Lufthansa nonstop return 10:30 → Atlanta 14:40 leaves substantially more time for the drive to Birmingham than an evening Nashville landing.
First-bag scenario $4,090.78 for two; the matched selected car is $1,547.24. Base flight + car $5,278.02 is $115.40 below Friday–Saturday before the additional hotel/meal day. Sunday arrival leaves no full recovery day before Monday; getting to the house that Sunday remains a drive plan, not a guarantee.
Exact fourth-window Atlanta flights ↗How I would narrow it: Dec 17–Jan 1 is the lower-price/earlier-home option if Frankfurt-area New Year’s Eve is acceptable. Dec 17–Jan 2 combines Friday market time and Zurich New Year’s Eve at lower flight/car cost than either Friday departure. Dec 18–Jan 3 gives the extra European Saturday with a practical 14:40 Atlanta landing, but trades away Sunday recovery. Dec 18–Jan 2 keeps Sunday at home and one fewer European room night. The extra night and ground costs can change which is the best complete trip.

Partial amounts exclude bags, hotels, meals, fuel, parking, tolls, extra driver and airport positioning. Fare rules/sellers differ. Work counts include Monday–Friday dates touched by each airport-to-airport span, excluding only assumed nonworking Dec 25 and Jan 1; these are not PTO instructions. The extra-day windows add a weekend date rather than another weekday. Every return clock is before the drive to the house.
Useful gateway and local-airport alternatives
These pairs have the listed actual US-airport date and no airport change. Atlanta’s fourth-window United cart is audited; other source stages remain labeled. Seller, bag and ticket terms on unaudited rows remain unverified. Local airports can offset a higher fare by avoiding positioning.

| Atlanta ↔ Paris CDG ↗Fri Dec 18 → Sat Jan 2 | $3,590.58Actual Air Canada Basic cart · checked 03:38:50 UTC | Europe Dec 19 07:20US Jan 2 21:21 · Atlanta | $255.80 below Friday Nashville’s $3,846.38 actual base fare. No matching CDG rental or Zurich-to-Paris return positioning is priced; this is an alternative, not an established whole-trip winner. The Atlanta drive can shift house arrival into Jan 3. |
Earlier-return alternatives were also refreshed: Dec 17–Jan 1 Nashville–Zurich still pairs at $3,126, and local Birmingham–Paris at $3,523. Their older Google bag/brand audits remain older evidence: Zurich Basic first-bag scenario $3,466/Main Cabin $3,606; local Delta first-bag scenario $3,823/Main Classic $4,003. Actual carrier baskets and matching new-date Zurich/CDG rentals remain unquoted. Zurich avoids the Frankfurt positioning journey but has a long Philadelphia return and Nashville 22:45 arrival; getting to the house could be Jan 2.
The raw Dec 17–Jan 2 Paris $3,179 card did not establish a usable one-stop actual Jan 2 return; a usable same-day paired alternative was $3,536. Frankfurt’s $3,500 floor gets to Nashville 23:39; $3,507 source/$3,506.38 current cart uses the far more practical 19:38 arrival. The fourth-window Nashville–Frankfurt alternative has an actual Air Canada Basic cart at $3,653.18, Jan 3 Nashville 19:38. It has no audited matching rental at its earlier pickup/drop times, so the Atlanta car price must not be attached to it. The fourth-window ATL–Stuttgart $3,457 raw card became $5,778 when paired to a usable same-day return for the selected outbound. Unknown, airport-change or overnight-return cards are not treated as equivalent.
Make the nights and New Year plan fit
The new fifteen-night Frankfurt loop can provisionally be 7 Alsace nights Dec 18–25 + 3 Baden-Baden Dec 25–28 + 4 Zurich Dec 28–Jan 1 + 1 Frankfurt-area night Jan 1–2. It retains Zurich New Year’s Eve and leaves Jan 1 to move toward the airport. Returning Jan 1 instead replaces the final Zurich night with Dec 31 Frankfurt positioning and totals 14 European nights. Friday Dec 18–Jan 2 shifts the route one day later and totals 14 nights. The new Friday Dec 18–Jan 3 window can use 7 Alsace nights Dec 19–26 + 3 Baden-Baden Dec 26–29 + 4 Zurich Dec 29–Jan 2 + 1 Frankfurt-area night Jan 2–3 = 15 European nights, retaining Saturday daytime before positioning as timing allows.
The early Friday FRA arrival can permit village markets that day after transfer; the late Friday Zurich arrival cannot. Both requested European weekends remain in all windows. Kaysersberg’s final weekend is Dec 18–20; Riquewihr ends Dec 20 and Colmar continues through Dec 29. Hotel and holiday restaurant inventory is not quoted here.
Selected Frankfurt cars: winter, protection and border use included
Current SIXT Frankfurt examples select VW Golf or similar compact automatic, two suitcases plus one bag, winter-suitable tyres, unlimited kilometres, Smart protection advertised “No deductible,” and France/Switzerland cross-border use. Totals include tax and the selected add-ons. No per-day extrapolation was used.

Rental billing uses 24-hour periods and differs from hotel nights. Rates vary by date; a longer rental need not cost more. The fourth quote matches the Atlanta flights. It is not a verified car price for the separate Nashville alternative.
How the added nights change the comparison: fourth-window base flight + car is $115.40 below Friday–Saturday, but adds an unquoted hotel/meal day. Against Thursday–Saturday it is $163.87 more, with the same 15 European room nights and one fewer potential work date, but no Sunday recovery. Thursday–Saturday is $279.27 below Friday–Saturday before its extra room night. These partial differences are not complete trip savings.
With first-bag estimates, still excluding hotels and ground costs: Thursday–Friday $4,872.15 using the Google AC bag scenario; Thursday–Saturday $5,474.15; Friday–Saturday $5,753.42; Friday–Sunday Atlanta $5,638.02. The United figures add four $90 fees. Bags were not selected on any cart; Thursday AC uses a separately rounded Google offer, not a fabricated precise bag checkout.
German compact security-hold policy: rental amount + EUR 300, exact hold unquoted. Prepaid rates charge at booking; later rebooking EUR 29.99/cancellation EUR 99, with no refund for no-show, delayed pickup or early return. The 24-hour free-change/cancellation grace applies only when pickup is over 48 hours away. Protection exclusions and contract duties still apply. Swiss motorway vignette inclusion is unverified; CHF 40 if needed is separate. Snow chains were not selected. Official SIXT Germany terms.
Driver age 30+ is assumed. The three audited BNA-linked pickups are 1h50 after scheduled FRA arrival; the Atlanta-linked pickup is 2h05 after arrival. Car return leaves 3h05 for the Jan 1 Nashville flight, 3h20 for Jan 2 practical flights, and 3h00 for the Jan 3 Atlanta flight. Branch hours were 05:00–00:30 daily/holidays with 24-hour return; reconfirm delayed pickup. All are quotes, not reservations.
Bags, timing and honest limits
The Thursday–Saturday, Friday–Saturday and Friday–Sunday Atlanta United carts are Basic Economy. The first 23 kg bag calculator shows $90 per person per direction: four fees add $360 for two round trip. These are unselected informational fees, not paid bag totals. The actual United Basic carts showed no complimentary seat selection and non-refundable fares. Seats together remain unquoted. Air Canada Basic showed no refund/no credit and changes for a fee. The inspected Nashville United Economy upgrade was +$240 per person, unselected; no included-seat, bag, change or refund benefits are assumed here. Do not reuse Air Canada’s former seller quote or bag scenario for United.
08:00 Nashville departures can require a prior airport night: Wednesday Dec 16 for the Thursday windows, or Thursday Dec 17 for Friday. That adds a US room and advances leaving the house. Return 19:38 is still an airport arrival; late drives, rest stops or an airport hotel can change the doorstep date and recovery time. Atlanta 21:21 and the near-midnight Nashville alternatives especially need that plan.
